8 weeks is the LEGAL minimum age, but technically as long as the mother has stopped nursing the puppy they are free to go. I on two seperate occasions have gotten puppies at 5 weeks old and they were extremely well behaved. Of course you have to get them puppy formula until they can eat solid food but that wasn't a problem for me.

Where I live (NH), it is illegal to sell or give a puppy away before 8 weeks although you can get away with it. Not that I'm trying to go against the law. It just happens my pups mother got very ill and I took my puppy home at 6 weeks!
