Direct loans only processes Stafford Loans, therefore you CANNOT combine your Sallie Mae loans with Direct loans unless you also have stafford loans Sallie Mae. If your Loans with Sallie Mae are Stafford loans then you can consolidate those with your Direct Stafford Loans, through Direct Loans. As for any private stafford loans, you can contact other private loan lenders to see if you can consolidate your private Sallie Mae loans with them, for example, Chase, PNC, Suntrust, Citi Assist, ect. Most of the time, one of the other lenders will only let you consolidate private loans if you already have at least one private loan with them. Good luck
