About legality of deductions in paychecks for...
...employers benefits or convenience? At the hotel I work at, I have charged a guest card on the 08/17/2008 and the card was declined on the 09/11/2008 on which date the guest had long checked-out. The manager told me that I should have seen the missing payment in another system we have called dollarsonthenet, but certain card does not go through on the same day. There is nothing I could have done since trying to run the card again would have possibly caused the guest to be charged twice. Also, when I looked into dollarsonthenet invoice it says that the reservation was cloned; I told another employee about it and he told me that the accountant had difficulties getting the money from the card and he asked him to clone the folio so he can try to charge it again and that's when the card declined. What I mean is that the card was not declined on the date I charged it, and the accounting knew about it when it declined.Am I suppose to be held responsible, and can my employer just deduct the cost of the room's charges out of my paycheck.I check every website, I got nothing for Florida state labor law on the present situation. Please, help!!!!
