Default what is the best anti virus/spyware software for free
download? i currently use norton, but i've heard it's not an excellent one to have, and we've also paid for it, but since we've had it, our pc's got loads of viruses. i was wondering if anyone could point me to the best software to use, that's free to download, and will protect both my laptop and pc, which are both using windows xp, from any viruses or spyware?and which is best for removing the viruses?thanks in advance

The best is AVG which i have use for years .

Try Avast Not Sure Of The Site Its On If You Type It In On Google Tho It Should Come Up Its Free N Its What My Anti Virus Is

Avira or AVGOr if you are a HSBC customer they are doing a free 12 month subscription to mcAfeeKaspersky (considered one of the best (but costly) virus scanner) do a free online scanner - doesn't remove viruses though but is very thorough.

Don't know which is the best but AVG 8.0 seems to be ok and easy to use and best it's free.

All of thee above are great, but you need a firewall too, if you want to prevent any trojans downloading more files without you knowing it, and preventing hackers from entering your PC.Get: AVG or Avast [http://www.download.com/windows and do a search]Get: Spyware terminator (comes with real-time shield, detection rate 95%) AND SpywareBlasterGet: ZoneAlarm or Comodo Firewall [http://www.download.com/windows and do a search]
