If you must send an e-mail, make it individual. And, if you can, personalize it. As a general rule, I am not a big fan of e-mails for thank you notes. If you can, send a handwritten note on nice professional-looking notecard. But be sure to send it out ASAP so that the interviewer has it in hand when filling in evaluation. Good luck!
