...a group environment, like school or work? I remember a good friend of mine was always referred to as "that atheist kid" at my school.Christian: I bet it does. ) How do you feel about your name, anyway? Do you like it?We called kids at our school Jesus Freaks too. They didn't seem to mind it, though. They seemed to embrace it, actually. Freaks. haha

I go through that in every workplace. It doesn't bother me.The original Jesus Freaks were hippies who went fundie in the early 1970s. The name stuck.I have an atheist nephew named Christian, after his great grandfather. When my brother found out what a scoundrel the original Christian was, he was a bit chagrined.Fear Of: I'm a member of http://maaf.info and suggest you join. No, but several atheists call select people in my school Jesus Freaks. The fact is, both groups are treated wrongly, which is sad because there is only an excuse for the abuse of one. Those who aren't taught better.

There have been rare occasions. Usually, there's at least one other atheist around, though. Or a few sympathetic agnostics.

I just got out of middle school, and in a major Protestant kind of city we only had one atheist person in our class. Sure we called him "Tim", but he was always known in conversations as the "atheist kid". It all depends on the surrounding.
